May 26, 2021: Training 1 “Miscanthus Waste Conversion” for SMEs and professionals

On May 26th, 2021 an international workshop Training 1 “Miscanthus Waste Conversion” for SMEs and professionals with remote access was organized by the Technical University of Ostrava.

Prof. Pidlisnyuk and Dr. Grycova started the workshop by an introduction of the Miscanvalue project. Dr. Lestinsky from VSB TU Ostrava provided an overview about pyrolysis and biochar production which was followed by presentation on the technological process given by Dr. Grycova.  Evaluation of performed experiments was presented by Dr. Klemencova (both VSB TU Ostrava). After short break, the Quit test was introduced in cooperation with partners from the University of Usti nad Labem and Germany. Mgr. Newton gave a presentation entitled „Miscanthus biochar application in phytoremediation and biomass production“. Another point of view was provided by Dr. Vrabl from University of Ostrava who talked about the issue of photosynthesis and ecotoxicology in terms of biochar application. The final presentation was a brief description of the large research infrastructure ENREGAT situated in Ostrava.

Part of the questions were moved to the discussion section of the workshop. There were 49 attendees from the Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Ukraine and Spain. The workshop was closed with enriching discussion. All participants have access to the presentations, as well as other materials. The organizers hope for future fruitful cooperation with anyone interested.
