February 25, 2021: International workshop at CTU

On February 25th, 2021 an international workshop “Life-cycle assessment and costing of Miscanthus x giganteus based products” took place Remote. The event was organized by the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague as a part of the MiscanValue project.

The workshop was opened by prof. Valentina Pidlisnyuk and led by Assoc.Prof. Vladimír Kočí. He did a plenary presentation on concept and methodology of Life Cycle Analysis (LCA). During the workshop Bc. Jan Matuštík introduced research on climate impact assessment of biomass projects, role of biogenic carbon in LCA and carbon footprint, Assoc.Prof.  Jan Vlachý gave an expert insight on Life Cycle Costing (LCC) and provided comparison of LCA and LCC. The state of the art on using LCA in Miscanthus x giganteus value chains with focus on production part was presented by Ing. Anna Hubatová-Vacková followed by presentation of Ing. Aleš Paulu on economic evaluation of Miscanthus x giganteus life cycle related to bioenergy products.

The presentations were followed by a Q&A session in which PhD student Robert Newton briefly introduced stage of biochar production from miscanthus waste as  part of overall Miscanthus value chain. The event was summed up in the fruitful dialog in between MiscanValue team members.
