On December 17, 2020 the first scheduled MiscanValue Endusers Committee & Consortium meeting was accomplished online. Altogether 23 participants were connected with the remote event. They represented end-users from Germany (three firms) and the Czech Republic (three firms) as well as projects partners from participating organizations in Germany (TUD-AST, TUD-HFT, PTS) and the Czech Republic (WASTen, UJEP, VSB-TUO, UCT).
Project partners introduced the WPs in which they are involved in and reported the progress in implementation of the project’s goals and milestones. Altogether six presentations were delivered, consequently, prof. Valentina Pidlisnyuk, UJEP overviewed WP1 on production of Miscanthus in the marginal lands and impact of soil amendments, plant growth regulators and strains isolated from contaminated soil to biomass; Dr.Mirko Lindner, TUD-AST introduced goals of WP 2 on Miscanthus harvesting and storing with focus on advantages using particular harvest machinery; Dr. Barbora Grycová, VSB-TUO (WP-3) shared the results of the first framework experiment on receiving biochar from Miscanthus rhizomes harvested at the regular agricultural soils, and Lab experiment finding related the proportion of biochar received from Miscanthus rhizomes. Mgr.Daniela Einer, TUD-HFT (WP4 and WP6) presented results of the first experiment of treatment Miscanthus biomass from the field in Lucenec (Czech Republic) to pulp using mechanical pulping with focus on Miscanthus parts moisture content which impacts the fibre and pulp production. Dr. Martin Zahel, PTS (WP5) overviewed the design of planned experiment on processing pulp to papers and introduced the equipment and methods to be used for analysis of fibres to be processed to paper. Mgr.Aleš Paulu, UCT (WP7) reported about initiation of the LCA and LCC modelling phase to calculate the Miscanthus value chain, and Mgr.Anna Hubatova introduced the coming event – International Conference will be performed on 25th February 2021. After presentations part the question-answers section was held followed with introduction the future planned activities and inter-collaboration options between teams.
The next End-users Committee & Consortium partners meeting is scheduled for the end of March, 2021.
